The Department of Foreign Languages recently hosted a competition for the best video, dedicated to the topical theme «Sport in My Life». This event served as an excellent example of how students can creatively approach foreign language learning, utilizing vocabulary from their textbooks.
Students demonstrated not only their English language proficiency but also their ability to work with video materials. It is particularly noteworthy that all submitted videos were prepared with English subtitles. This not only enriched their vocabulary on the sports theme but also honed their listening comprehension skills, as well as taught them how to create a coherent and understandable visual narrative.
Students showcased their favorite activities, highlighting the significance of sport in their lives. The dynamic shots of training sessions reflected the individuality of their creators.
One of the most memorable moments of the competition was the performance of a student who bravely took on the role of a teacher. In her video, she not only presented interesting information but also conducted a short lecture introducing new vocabulary on the topic of «Gymnastics». This was a true challenge, which the student tackled brilliantly, demonstrating confidence, mastery of the material, and artistry. This approach allows students to view the topic from a new perspective, gain a deeper understanding of lesson structure, and practice not only comprehending but also explaining material in a foreign language.
The «Sport in My Life» contest was more than just a test of knowledge; it was a great example of creativity, teamwork, and language practice. We are proud of our students who approach their studies with enthusiasm and are ready to apply their knowledge in a wide variety of formats.
